African American Cultural and Historical Museum of Washtenaw County (Michigan) The Museum’s mission is to research, collect, preserve and exhibit cultural and historical materials about the life and work of African Americans in Washtenaw County, MI.

Alexandria Black History Museum (Virginia) is located near Washington, D.C. in Alexandria and its mission is to enrich the lives of Alexandria’s residents and visitors, to foster tolerance and understanding among all cultures and to stimulate appreciation of the diversity of the African American experience. Other nearby sites, including the Freedom House Museum, offer more learning opportunities.

The Griot Museum of Black History (Missouri) is located in St. Louis, Missouri and its mission is to create a community of lifelong learners who explore, experience and embrace the region’s rich and enduring African-American heritage.

Kelton House (Ohio) The Historic Kelton House Museum in Columbus, Ohio was built by Fernando Cortez Kelton. He and his wife, Sophia, were active supporters of the abolitionist movement. The house is a Cornerstone Landmark of the Town Street Historic District and is recognized as an Underground Railroad site.

Levi and Catharine Coffin House - Indiana State Museum (Indiana) is located in the present-day town of Fountain City in Wayne County, Indiana. There is a visitor center that offers tours of the house.

Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center (Maryland) is located in Church Creek and is dedicated to the American hero and pioneer of the Underground Railroad.

The Sheldon Peck Homestead | Lombard Historical Society (Illinois) Portrait artist Sheldon Peck used his homestead in Babcock's Grove (now Lombard, Illinois) to help Underground Railroad travelers. He was a radical abolitionist, urging the full and immediate termination of slavery, as were many of the area townspeople. Historical Society staff and volunteers worked over several years researching the Underground Railroad, genealogy and property lines near the Homestead, and Sheldon Peck’s art.
